Environmental Stewardship

PrimeAsia was a founding member of the Leather Working Group (LWG) and continues to play an active and leading role in the promotion of environmental management throughout the leather supply chain.

All of PrimeAsia's manufacturing sites have been audited by the LWG protocol with PrimeAsia Vietnam and PrimeAsia China being awarded a Gold standard.

The LWG audit is rapidly becoming an internationally recognized standard for the measurement of environmental management within the leather industry.

A recycle and reuse philosophy is applied within all our facilities, with each of the manufacturing locations implementing technical upgrades and a water recycling plan that have resulted in a 40% reduction in our corporate water usage.

PrimeAsia China and PrimeAsia Vietnam have implemented extensive programs to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

PrimeAsia China captures and re-uses waste steam from a local power plant with the result that it has reduced heavy oil consumption by more than 400K liters per month and has reduced CO 2, 6 million meters3. In China and Vietnam, the hot water consumed in employee’s living spaces is heated by solar panels.

PrimeAsia Vietnam is currently installing the world's largest solar array, used by any tannery. This solar installation will be capable of supplying 100% of the facilities’ hot water requirements and will result in further significant reductions in the consumption of oil and release of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Restricted Substances

PrimeAsia manages on a corporate basis RS compliance and has been operating an extensive RS compliance and testing program for almost 10 years. All RS testing is conducted via external independent and internationally certified and accredited test facilities (example SGS Hong Kong, SGS Taiwan).

A comprehensive database of all testing results is maintained along with the close cooperation of our supply chain. Numerous finished material tests are conducted each month, which ensures that PrimeAsia has absolute confidence that all materials it supplies will comply with the industry requirements for restricted substances.

A case in which a customer does not have a specific testing regime or RS policy PrimeAsia conducts a volume based testing system and applies its corporate RS policy which is equivalent to and based upon the combined testing requirements of all its major customers.
