Sustainability

Sustainability has always been at the heart of PrimeAsia’s business. As founding members of the Leather Working Group (LWG), we have been at the forefront of sustainability in the leather industry for two decades. With the launch of our Consciously Crafted strategy in 2024 we took our commitment further, setting data-driven targets under four pillars: Operational Excellence, Circularity, Climate Action, and Social Impact.

Operational Excellence

Operational Excellence has been the foundation of our sustainability program and continues to be a cornerstone of our strategy. Under this pillar, we have targets that encompass exceeding industry standards on compliance management, tracing 100% of our raw material supply chain to the birth farm or group of birth farms, removing hazardous chemicals from our supply chain, and using 100% recycled water. 

Circularity

PrimeAsia is committed to both waste reduction and the incorporation of more sustainable materials in our operations. Our Circularity pillar covers targets for recycling, including footwear factory takeback programs for turning leather waste into a recycled material and reusable shipping containers. Also under this pillar are our waste targets, including targets for zero waste to landfill by 2040 and recycling 75% of the waste at our tanneries by 2030. 

Climate Action

At the end of 2025, Primeasia set verified near term and long term SBTi targets. Levers to achieving these targets also fall under this pillar including shifting to 100% renewable energy by 2040 and preferred materials targets to have LCA data for 75% of our hides and chemicals. Finally, we also have targets to collect data from our hide and chemical supply chains and enhance our Deforestation and Conversion Free Due Diligence programs to align with industry standards.

Social Impact

Our Social Impact strategy aims to improve the livelihoods of our workers, individuals throughout our value chain, and the communities in which we operate. Under this pillar we have targets to disclose wage data against living wage standards, complete community engagement, and create programs dedicated to worker wellbeing.
