Life-Shield
Life-Shield is Primeasia’s Waterproof technology that keeps your feet dry while maintaining the natural look, feel, and breathability of leather. Developed for modern footwear applications, Life-Shield combines durability with reliable water protection across a range of product needs.
Primeasia offers two Life-Shield product categories:
WP: designed for maximum waterproof performance.
LWA: developed for footwear requiring easy care and water resistance.
Process vs. Product
Under the Life-Shield platform, every leather begins with the same waterproof process, built directly into the leather during retanning for consistent water protection.
At the crust stage, before embossing and finishing, all Life-Shield leathers perform the same across Maeser flexes, water absorption and wicking.
Not all leather finishes can meet the WP specifications.
Once different finishing applications are applied, such as heavy embosses, waxes, or specialty finishes, testing is impacted, primarily lowering Maeser flexes. Moisture protection remains built into the leather, but final test results are influenced by the chosen aesthetic.
WP is built for extreme conditions, ideal for work, outdoor, or military-inspired footwear where feet may be exposed to moisture for extended periods of time. Waterproof leathers are more classic in look but engineered to perform when it matters most.
LWA opens the door to more creative freedom. These leathers are designed for the protections needed in everyday wear, offering greater flexibility in design and allowing for richer finishes, embossing, and fashion-driven aesthetics. Its moisture-resistant performance is focused on the purpose, giving brands more room to create without compromising easy-care protection.
